Backed By Extensive Trial Experience

First and foremost, our attorneys are skilled trial lawyers. Joe Romero previously worked as a federal prosecutor for seven years. He has tried over 100 jury trials, including serious felony offenses, civil rights cases, and personal injury claims. Sam Winder previously worked as a federal prosecutor for 12 years and later earned a well-deserved reputation as a hardworking, competent, and compassionate criminal defense attorney and state district court judge.

Based on our experience, we possess a unique understanding of both the federal and state court systems. We work closely with our clients to ensure they understand what is happening in their case. We work together with our clients to formulate a case strategy designed to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.

Dedicated To Serving Others

In addition to practicing law, both Mr. Romero and Mr. Winder are dedicated to helping others. Joe Romero served his country for 29 years as a Staff Judge Advocate in the New Mexico National Guard. His past deployments include active duty tours to Cuba, Kosovo, Qatar and Afghanistan. Locally, he serves as a mentor for at risk teens at the New Mexico Youth ChalleNGe Academy, and has previously served as a board member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albuquerque and a volunteer at Catholic Charities of New Mexico Center for Immigration and Citizenship Legal Assistance.

Winder is an active member of his church, the Calvary of Albuquerque, and previously served as a board member. In 2016, Winder also served as an at-large member of the United States Sentencing Commission - Tribal Advisory Group.
